Amanda of Pura Vida Holistic Therapies and Yoga is delighted to welcome you to this transformative gong relaxation sound bath.

A Gong Relaxation Sound Bath is a fantastic way to leave behind the pressures of modern life. The session will begin with some gentle drumming followed by the mesmerising crystal bowls and the Himalayan singing bowls leading into the powerful gongs. The captivating tones will lull you into a deep, restorative relaxation and your body will take what it needs from the vibrations of the instruments bringing it back into balance (homeostasis) which is when the body’s own self-healing mechanisms kick in.  There will be a short period of silence and then you will be brought round with the tinkling of percussion instruments.

There are several health benefits associated with achieving this state of deep relaxation including lower blood pressure, increased blood circulation, balancing of the nervous system, reduced mind chatter, better sleep patterns. Some people gain mental clarity or feel very energised by the sessions. The session may even enhance your creativity and lift your mood if you are feeling low.

Some people also experience a reduced sense of pain, plus relief from symptoms of ongoing medical conditions and illnesses as the vibrations work at a cellular and molecular level. The sound helps to induce our natural relaxation response, taking us out of ‘fight or flight’ mode and into our restorative, parasympathetic state and puts us into an altered state of consciousness, altering our brainwaves.
In my experience, people with auto-immune conditions and conditions involving the nervous system seem to feel considerable benefits.

Participants generally leave with a feeling of inner peace, calmness and tranquillity and a reduction in stress, anxiety or worry.

A Gong Relaxation sound bath works on all levels of your being – mind, body, soul & spirit. The sound vibrations will provide a ‘sonic massage’ to your physical self and subtle energy fields, leaving you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and restored.

What to wear:  loose, comfortable clothing.

What to bring:

A bottle of water.

A yoga mat, two cushions and a blanket to make yourselves a cosy cocoon.

Exchange: £15.00.

To book:  Please call or message Amanda on 07931 739452, email amanda@puravidaholistics.co.uk or fill in the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Cancellation: Places can be cancelled provided 48 hours notice is given. Cancellations of less than 48 hours notice are non-refundable.
We very much look forward to welcoming you on 14 March 2024.
With love and light.

Amanda of Pura Vida Holistic Therapies and Yoga is delighted to welcome you to this transformative event.  Amanda will hold a safe, sacred space where there is no judgement and anything that is discussed will remain confidential so we are able to be our true, authentic selves and speak our truth.

Places are limited to six people so it will be a small, intimate event.

Candle lighting.
Amanda will hold a safe, sacred space and will open the cacao ceremony with a prayer followed by a blessing with smoke to cleanse the space and clear away any negative energies.
Arrival/grounding meditation and mudra – focusing on the breath, emotions and body to settle us in and to bring ourselves into the now – the present moment. We will also connect with mother earth – Gaia, with a grounding meditation and Prithvi mudra (hand gesture).
Introductions
Theme
The Spring Equinox is a time when day and night are of equal length and we begin to experience longer days with more light, energy and heat, bringing balance into our lives.
Spring is the season of fertility bringing new life, new beginnings, rejuvenation and renewal, so just as we plant seeds in the ground and we water, feed, nurture and nourish them to allow them to flourish and blossom, we can also plant seeds within us using the fertile spring energy, enabling us to deeply transform into a happier, healthier and more balanced version of ourselves and to access our highest potential and our true selves to allow us to manifest our dreams, goals and visions.
Cacao Ceremony
Amanda will share a little ‘Cacao wisdom’ as we move into a cacao prayer to honour and pay gratitude to our ancestors and to this sacred and nourishing, heart-healing, heart-opening plant medicine as we invite Her into our most precious, wondrous, temple bodies.
Journal prompts and Oracle three card story.
Shares (if you feel called) and candle lighting.
Free movement to a Spring Equinox themed play list.
Hatha Yoga
The session will begin with some grounding, settling and arriving on the mat followed by a nourishing warm up leading into the main asana (postures) section. We will begin with some grounding asanas, anchoring our roots down into the earth for support and structure just as the trees do bringing grounded grace into our relationships, work, family and home.
We will practice a Surya Namaskara – Sun Salutation to help ease the transition from winter to spring and to spring clean our spirit by letting go of whatever is no longer serving us, clearing clutter and space to allow us to bring in something new. The sun salutation is also a great way to de-clutter our mind, body, soul and spirit, allowing us to take in ‘prana’ or life force energy and exhale ‘apana’ or that which is no longer needed, giving us the opportunity to be open to give and receive.
We will finish with a cool down leading to a savasana (relaxation).
The yoga is suitable for all levels.
What to wear: comfortable, loose clothing.
What to bring:
A journal/notebook and a pen, a yoga mat, 2 yoga blocks, 2 yoga bricks, a yoga belt, a blanket and an eye bag. (Don’t worry if you don’t have your own equipment as I have some spares).
A bottle of water.
Energy Exchange: £35.00 per person.
To book: Please call or message Amanda on 07931 739452 or email amanda@puravidaholistics.co.uk.
Cancellation: Payment at the time of booking will secure your place. Places can be cancelled provided 48 hours’ notice is given.
Cancellations of less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable.
We very much look forward to welcoming you on 22 March 2024.
With deep gratitude.

CACAO CEREMONY – Amanda Kitchen

Amanda will hold a sacred, safe space for the Cacao ceremony which she will open with a prayer followed by a blessing with smoke to cleanse the space and clear away any negative energies.

Arrival – to settle you in focusing on the breath.

During the Cacao ceremony you will be invited to spend a few moments to contemplate your healing intention for the day ahead and the theme is making time to slow down, pause, reflect and go within.

Amanda will share a little ‘Cacao wisdom’ as we move into a cacao prayer to honour and pay gratitude to our ancestors and to this sacred and nourishing, heart-healing plant medicine as we invite Her into our most precious bodies.

Mudra and grounding meditation.

Shares (if you feel called) and candle lighting.

Journal prompts focusing on pausing, slowing down and contemplation.

Yin yoga focusing on nourishing the bladder and kidney meridians.   The bladder is responsible for cities and regions.  It stores the body fluids.   The transformation of the qi then give out their power. We will connect with the element of water which relates to the kidneys.   Shhhh, yin yoga can be a bridge towards quieting and stillness, qualities which are needed amongst social media, noise and the chaotic world we live in.  A making space can help us go within, connecting with our inner being.

“The human body, at peace with itself,

Is more precious than the rarest gem.

Cherish your body, it is yours this one time only.

The human form is won with difficulty,

It is easy to lose.

All worldly things are brief,

Like lightning in the sky;

this life you must know

As the tiny splash of a raindrop;

A thing of beauty that disappears

Even as it comes into being”.

108 BEAD MALA MAKING – Alida Gulumhussain

Introductory information on crystals, chakras and how they affect our energy.

MALA (PRONOUNCED MAH-LAH) BEAD MAKING

You will design and choose genuine, high quality crystals and thread based on intuition, properties of the crystals and chakras and make your very own, stunning 108 bead mala. You will learn how to knot the mala in the traditional way and add your guru bead and tassel.  Amanda will play a “G” singing bowl and voice to connect with our fifth chakra and our creativity while we are making our beads.

WHAT IS A MALA BEAD?

A mala is a string of beads used traditionally to count mantra (prayer) while meditating.  Mala beads are often made with a combination of natural gemstones, crystal, pearls, wood or seed beads.  A tassel is often attached to the beads representing the lotus flower, a symbol of the higher consciousness.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF MALA BEADS?

The significance of beaded jewellery has been a part of humanity since the beginnings of our time here on Earth.   At the very southern tip of Africa in a cave known as Blombos, Nassarius shell beads were discovered to have been strung on a cord and worn as decorative ornaments.  These beads are believed to be from around 70,000 BCE.

It was around the 8th century  BCE when the ancient seers of India began to use beads to assist with their meditation and prayers continuing with the practice of self-awareness and a desire to seek higher knowledge, the beads would come to be known as “mala beads” or “prayer” beads.

MANTRA/MEDITATION – Julie Keen

In this nurturing day of creativity and self-care we will finish using our newly created Mala beads to chant this beautiful peace invoking mantra:

Oṁ Śāntiḥ Oṁ / Om Shanti Om – ‘Peace be with you’

Oṃ is the eternal source-sound-vibration of creation.

Shanti means ‘Peace’ – Peace in body, peace in mind, peace in speech or spirit.

Chanting this beautiful mantra also allows us to bring peace to our past, present and future and you will be invited to connect with your own inner sanctuary, finding peace within.

What is a mantra?

A mantra is a group of words, a syllable or a sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.  The word ‘mantra’ means ‘mind protector’ and is made up of two Sanskrit words: manas which means ‘mind’ and trai which means ‘to protect’ or to ‘free from’.

Please don’t worry if you prefer not to chant.  Julie will guide you into the meditation and chant the mantra while you relax and receive the blessings and vibrational healing from the sounds that are created.

Chanting a mantra can help with:

Feeling more relaxed and peaceful; improving concentration; managing illness and releasing ‘dis-ease’; promoting good health and wellbeing; increasing energy levels; improving breathing and respiratory function; opening the throat chakra; dealing more positively with life situations and challenges; setting intentions to bring about life-enhancing changes and rebalancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

“The great mantras are thousands of years old, handed down orally from master to disciple, student and apprentice.  In essence they are golden vibrations of light, transmitting the deepest communion with subatomic particles, molecules and cells of or body-minds, awakening the energies of Love” (Chloé Goodchild, 2015: 110).

We are so looking forward to sharing these ‘golden vibrations of light’ with you as we all chant this beautiful mantra together!!   Om Shanti Om.

Closing prayer.

What to bring – a journal or notebook and a pen.

Investment:   £95 per person

What’s included:

Your own individualised, stunning, high quality 108 bead mala

A shared vegan/vegetarian lunch

Unlimited tea, herbal teas, coffee, water and snacks throughout the day.

Places are limited to 12 only so booking early is advised to avoid disappointment.

We are excited to welcome you to this magical event.

CACAO CEREMONY – Amanda Kitchen

Amanda will hold a safe, sacred space and will open the cacao ceremony with a prayer followed by a blessing with smoke to cleanse the space and clear away any negative energies.

During the Cacao ceremony you will be invited to sit in stillness, connecting with the third eye chakra – Ajna to connect with your intuition, creativity, visualisation and imagination to bring clarity and provide inspiration and illumination for your written words.

CREATIVE WRITING – Luke Emsley

Taking a creative, no-pressure and easy-access approach to wordplay, you will be offered a chance to absorb, reflect upon, and wholeheartedly embrace this unique workshop experience. Absolutely no experience or qualifications with the written word are necessary. Rules of language, grammar and punctuation will be only as important as you choose them to be.

In the spiritual and sacred space that Amanda will be holding, Luke will help you use the written word to deepen and enhance understanding and personal experience. Together, we will hope to discover liberating insights, emotional acceptance and moments of joy. Although sharing our words can be wonderful, there is no pressure to do so. The outcome might be a simple scribbled token for your personal cherishing and future reference, maybe something more expansive that is to be read aloud, and anything and everything in between! It will be the perfect result of however your pen meets your paper: beauty will be found through your voice in written word.

Benefits of creative writing:

  • Gives clarity of thought
  • Enhances language skills
  • Improves communication skills
  • Promotes mental well-being
  • Builds confidence
  • Increases empathy

About Luke:

Luke is a poet, writer and actor who has also studied counselling. After recently embarking on a more spiritual path to find a more wholehearted way of living, and having found emotionally cathartic places in the spaces and treatments offered by Pura Vida, Luke was inspired to write and share this poem at Amanda’s event in December 2022:

“The Goddess Path”

Once, there was a powerful Goddess
who learned restored direction.

She let happiness flow through
the dance of the night’s clouds;
and hope grew
the way the scent of lavender blooms
on peaceful hills.

In the leap of the hare,
and in the clip-clop of the horse’s hoof,
and in the flutter of the feathers
of a love-sprung dove,

she found her direction.

Whether her path would lead to the
brilliant blackouts of deepest eclipses,
or to the dazzle of starlight’s flight
o’er e’er glowing skies…

…the path was hers.
